Publishing Policy and Fees

Egertu Digital Library welcomes all researchers, academics, and graduates. The library aims to provide a secure, advanced, and sustainable digital environment dedicated to preserving, indexing, and publishing outstanding scientific and literary outputs (Master’s theses, dissertations, and graduation projects) immediately upon successfully passing the academic defense via the approved OMP publishing platform.

1. Intellectual Property & Academic Licensing

The publishing and archiving process in the Digital Library is governed by the following legal and regulatory frameworks:

  • Retention of Author Rights: The researcher (author) retains full and unconditional intellectual property rights to their work without any transfer of copyright to the Digital Library.
  • Open Access: The library is committed to making all uploaded research available for free and in full to readers and the public worldwide, maximizing your global research citations and academic impact.
  • Approved License: All works are officially archived and published under the international Creative Commons license: Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
License Benefits & Protection for Your Work: This international license allows the public to download and share your work as long as they credit you as the original author. However, it strictly prohibits altering the research, creating derivative works, or using it for any commercial or profitable purposes by any third party.

2. Processing Fees & Allocation

To ensure the continuity of the Digital Library's services and cover operational costs without relying on advertisements, the researcher (author) is required to pay a one-time flat fee upon submission:

Where do these fees go? (Platform Sustainability & Support)

  • Sustainable Cloud Infrastructure: Covering the costs of secure cloud servers hosting the OMP system and domain maintenance to ensure your research remains online for life with permanent links.
  • Platform Team & Maintenance: Supporting the administrative and technical team responsible for maintaining the publishing system, enhancing cyber security, and upgrading internal search tools.
  • Technical Review & Metadata Indexing: Covering the costs of evaluating submissions, verifying academic defense status, and structuring metadata to optimize indexing in global scientific search engines like Google Scholar.

3. Refund Policy

To regulate financial transactions and protect the rights of both parties, fees are subject to the following rules:

After technical processing and initial review have begun Non-refundable as platform technical resources and staff effort are immediately allocated to process and format the file.
If the submission is rejected for administrative reasons before processing Fully Refundable. The researcher will be contacted immediately to issue a full refund according to the payment gateway used.
